Marion's Magnificent Scrubbies
So what in the world is a "Marion's Magnificent Scrubby" exactly? It is something I've come to highly appreciate in my world - especially in my art world.
A couple of years ago, a friend gifted me with a simple little scrubby. The scrubby was handmade by a local Floridian. I found the gesture kind and the scrubby unique. I brought it home and put it to work in my kitchen - I loved it! I requested another scrubby offering to pay the individual who handcrafted them. I used my second scrubby for deep cleaning - I loved it! I asked for a third and used it while creating some mixed media artwork I was working on at the time - I loved it! I then requested a stack of scrubbies so I'd always have one available.
After completing an oil painting one day, I wondered how Marion's Magnificent Scrubby would clean brushes. I grabbed an empty Mason jar and stuffed a single scrubby into the bottom of the jar. I poured some odorless turpenoid into the jar, filling it about a third of the way full. I stuck a brush in the fluid and gave it a gentle stirring against the scrubby. When I pulled the brush out, I couldn't believe how effortlessly it had cleaned the brush - I loved it! That was over a year ago, and I am still using the SAME scrubby in my brush cleaning jar!
I've gone on to use them to effortlessly clean palettes, the grill, and so on. Friends and family giggle at my obsession with Marion's Magnificent Scrubbies. I don't care - I love them!
I decided to sell these scrubbies on my website because every time I use one (which is every day), my appreciation for them grows. So, if you desire to make your life easier in the studio, kitchen, and beyond, I encourage you to give one of Marion's Magnificent Scrubbies a try.
Sometimes I use large ceramic 'fondue plates' for palettes when working with acrylics. MMScrubbies cleans them right up!
Other times I use a large sheet of aluminum, or a piece of glass with grey mating underneath in order to judge color value better. MMScrubby works even better on aluminum, or glass.
Whether watercolor, acrylic, oil, or mixed media, Marion's Magnificent Scrubby makes that final step of clean up almost as enjoyable as creating the artwork.
THE BEST brush cleaner - ever! Once the brushes are cleaned, I place the mason jar lid back on until needed again. MMScrubby does not dissolve in the turpenoid. Sediment will settle in the bottom of the jar. I have changed the turpenoid and rinsed out the scrubby one time in a year.
